Building Local Resiliency
The Civic Resilience Initiative works with community organizations to co-create research, drive new learning, and serve our communities in understanding how digital technologies are impacting our civic and information ecosystems across Western Pennsylvania and beyond.
Strengthening Libraries as Community Information Partners
The Civic Resilience Initiative collaborates with local libraries to develop resources and outreach materials, recognizing the pivotal role libraries play as trusted information hubs and community partners.
Here, you will find an overview of our research into public libraries in Western PA, along with practical materials designed to support libraries as local information leaders. Discover our library empowerment outreach initiative, which underscores the importance of libraries as reliable information access points. You'll also find templates for meaningful one-on-one conversations with patrons about their information habits. Additionally, we offer a curated list of up-to-date information literacy resources to help build teaching and programming within libraries.
News and Information Surveys
The Civic Resilience Initiative collaborated with Pitt’s University Center for Social and Urban Research to run surveys of residents in the broader Pittsburgh region to understand how local communities get their information, and how they exercise trust within their information and civic ecosystems.
